The ingenious Wawa founder George Wood had doctors certify that the milk from his imported cows was safe and sanitary.

He did this since this pasteurized the milk making it safe to drink, and kids often got sick drinking milk during this time period.

It wasn’t until 1964 the company was forced to diversify into a food market, as more consumers were buying milk in store and not relying on the Wawa delivery method anymore.

Wawa is a gas station grocery store chain with the majority of its physical locations set up on the East coast.

Wawa continues to grow and in 2015 was #34 on Forbes list of the largest private companies.
