TellPrimark
Have you ever been to Ireland?
If yes, you may have noticed a store called Penney’s in Ireland. Primark originated as the Ireland Penney’s, and is still branded as such in the country of Ireland.
The first Primark, or should we say, Penney’s, opened on Mary Street in Dublin in 1969, where it still stands today.
In less than a year, 4 more stores opened in just Dublin, and then it started to expand internationally, finally opening a store in England in 1973.
The chain is headquartered in Dublin, and you can still visit the original Primark, called Penney’s, on Mary Street today.
I had never heard of Primark until one opened a few years ago, in 2016, in downtown Boston where I used to work.
It has super cute and super cheap clothes, so I fully understand the appeal.
I even got one of my favorite, thick, comfy sweaters from the store, although the sweater was more expensive than I was expecting, around $39 USD, for such a cheap store in other respects.
The clothing is cute and cheap, and responsible for its massive success today.
The downside to such cheap clothing – other than the $39 sweaters of course! – is that the stores do tend to be slightly crowded, with long lines for the changing rooms, and staff that doesn’t really care or ask to help.
However, the strategy has worked very well for their success and expansion so far, and I don’t see any signs of the chain slowing down anytime soon.
The largest Primark store is on Market Street in Manchester, England, and it takes up 155,000 sq ft in three stories of a building.
The chain is able to build such a huge following and huge stores, and to keep the huge, expanding theme, it offers a Primark survey to customers online at www.TellPrimark.co.uk, where you can give feedback in exchange for being entered into their daily and weekly sweepstakes.

The only thing I was very disappointed, was that the pair of jeans I bought for myself, didn’t fit me, when I got back home in Greece where I live. I tried a pair of jeans that were W34/L30 and they were perfect around the waist, but a little short in length. So, I took them back to where I had picked them up and got another pair that were the same waist size but longer (W34/L32) without trying them. When I got back home in Athens, from my trip and tried them on at home, I couldn’t button the top button. They were way too tight to be the same waist size I had tried in the store. I thought I might have made a mistake and picked a wrong size in my hurry, but all the labels and tags were the correct size (W34/L32). I measured the waist with measuring tape and it’s 32.5. So the mistake wasn’t mine. It’s a shame, because they have a great fitting. I really wish I could change it, but I don’t live in London.
I love Primark Store, Great customers services, special Jessica
